MS Digital Art

6th-8th

Students will learn a variety of digital arts including film-making, film- editing, digital photography, and photo editing. Students will learn such things as visual story-telling, camera angles, lighting, sound, creating solid characters, film basics, parts of a camera, and basic film and photo editing. They will learn about camera functions, creative composition, photo editing, and more. Students can stretch their abilities and grow as photographers and videographers as they complete corresponding assignments and projects. Students should have a basic understanding and be comfortable with using the required devices.

CLASS MATERIALS

Students should have a device or camera on which to record video or take pictures. A "real" camera would be ideal, but a phone or tablet can be used as well. For film editing, students will need a device or laptop on which to download the free program HitFilm Express (https://fxhome.com/hitfilm-express). Please click on the word "Specs" under "Download HitFilm Express" to make sure your device is compatible. For photo editing, students will need to access Pixlr This can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play or can be used through a web browser on a laptop.

Katie Dugdale, her husband, and four children live in Hendersonville. Katie has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. She has worn many hats including teacher, administrative assistant, cake decorating instructor, and graphic designer. She served for 6 years on the board of the Henderson County Homeschool Association as Activities Director, Treasurer, and Secretary. Katie has also worked in youth ministry at Grace Blue Ridge Church in Hendersonville for the last three years.
